Westlake Golf Club
Lake Side, Cape Town
Par 72 | Hole 18 | 5950 m
Set in the leafy Cape Town suburb of Lake Side, with its back enclosed in the walls of the Silvermine Mountains, Westlake Golf Course has gained an illustrious reputation as one of the Cape’s premiere courses. The natural beauty and wildlife that the surrounding mountains have added bring forth an element that most city suburb golf courses can only dream of.
Towering flat pine trees which line many of the fairways are a highlight as well as a characteristic feature of the course. To achieve a good score, you have to stay out of the trees. Westlake has an interesting but user-friendly design and quite a few doglegs. From the first to the eighteenth hole, every step affords panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The par 4, 12th, Westlake’s signature hole deserves a special mention with tall pines flanking the right hand side of the fairway and offering a challenge to most golfers.

Steenberg Golf Estate Golf Course
Constantia, Cape Town
Par 72 | Hole 18 | 6310 m
Rated among the top 3 golf courses to visit in South Africa, Steenberg, nestled in the crook of the Constantiaberg Mountains, lives up to its fame with a charming location. Designed by the eminent golf course architect Peter Matkovich, Steenberg follows his principle that good golf course architects “listen to the land”. Recently voted “Top foreign golf resort” by Conde Nast Traveller readers, Steenberg is one of the most prestigious golf courses in South Africa.
The greens on the course are especially laudable, but the quality of the fairways or the rest of the course is in fact, equally impressive. Signature holes are the 7th and the 14th. Large aprons around the greens are another special feature and the vineyards also provide a unique visual aspect, as well as a charming added hazard.
DAY 4: Golf at Erinvale
- Play 1x 18 holes golf at Erinvale Golf Course (Includes Green Fee).
The Table Bay Hotel.
Breakfast
Erinvale Golf Course
Somerset West, Winelands
Par 72 | Hole 18 | 5840 m

Having hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf and the second oldest tournament in the world, the prestigious SAA Open in 2003 and 2004, Erinvale is no stranger to worldwide media coverage.
Built on a narrow stretch of land which escalates sharply uphill, Erinvale is an estate course with two distinctly different nines. The front nine is flat, winding its way through the park-like terrain estate which calls for challenging approach shots to the long narrow putting surfaces, while the back nine meanders through the foothills of the magnificent Helderberg, with breathtaking views of the False Bay coastline from the top holes. The signature par-four 17th hole requires golfers to play downhill from an elevated tee, with tall pines flanking one side of the fairway, and an out-ofbounds fence the other.

The course typifies the essence of African golf at its best with indigenous bushveld bordering the pristine fairways and greens. The course has hosted many PGA professional tournaments including the well known South African Sunshine Tour.
Home to the annual Alfred Dunhil Golf Tournament, this wonderful layout has numerous animals strolling on the fairways. It’s common to hear a buffalo snort or see a giraffe near the fence on your drive, while the pitch shot might need a hit over a lake full of crocodiles and hippos. Elephant Hills Golf Course
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Par 72 | Hole 18 | 6205 m
Imagine a round of golf where the unusual obstacles include wild antelope, the odd elephant, or even a warthog roaming the course! That’s Elephant Hills for you. Designed by the star of the international circuit, Gary Player, the course is beautifully integrated into the surrounding bush, allowing for game to wander freely on to the course. This might just mess with your golf swing and bunker shots, but it also offers some thrilling moments for the camera! If the company of African wildlife isn’t exciting enough, there is also the Victoria Falls thundering in the background.
Bunkers encourage accurate approach shots and eight of the holes have water hazards. The superbly maintained fairways and greens of this golf course have been planted with imported grasses and modern irrigation systems to ensure that they are always lush. In fact the blend of these features with the African wild is so complete as to give you a one-of-a-kind golfing experience.
